Women have played major roles in the democratic protests in Tunisia and Egypt. In fact, the strikes in Mahalla, Egypt, which started in 2006, began with 3,000 female textile workers. As they took to the streets, they chanted, “Where are the men? Here are the women!”
Still, stepford wives all across America lambast Arab women for being docile and repressed.
